Description

The Baidarka is designed for the paddler who wants a unique looking boat with the performance and light weight beauty of wood at economical prices. I designed this boat to be as true to the looks of the Aleutian boats as possible with improved stability and comfort. These boats are built from Okoume mahogany plywood for strength and natural good looks. The Baidarka features the forked or bificated bow typical of Aleutian Eskimo hunting kayaks. Long waterline length and multi-chine hull make this a fast boat which will handle well in rough water. These boats track well and are little effected by wind due to their low profile.

Available with foam seat, footbraces, flush deck fittings and knob closed hatches standard.

I have two Baidarkas here at the house for you to try or purchase.  I have the original 17 footer with a big eagle veneered on the deck and a 19 foot strip deck hybrid with a unique herringbone pattern and a built in rudder.

Baidarka plans include full size templates (tape the sheets together and mark your plywood by punching through the paper) and detailed easy to follow instructions. This boat uses stitch and glue construction and can be assembled in about 110 hour of work; hybrid construction takes about 140 hours.
